TotalEnergies Ambition in Renewables

Electricity demand is set to rise faster than global demand for energy in the coming years. According to the International Energy Agency’s Sustainable Development Scenario, renewable energies will represent more than 35% of the world’s energy mix in 2040. To support this growth, our ambition is to achieve 100 GW of gross installed renewable power generation capacity by 2030 and rank among the top five global producers of solar- and wind-generated electricity.

At the end of September 2023, TotalEnergies' gross renewable electricity generation installed capacity was 20 GW, on track to achieve the company’s target of 35 GW by 2025. TotalEnergies has spent over $10 billion in the past five years in growing its low carbon energies business and has set aside $5 billion for electricity and renewables capital spending in 2023. Going forward, TotalEnergies strategy will be supported by two pillars, Oil and Gas and Integrated Power. The energy of today and of tomorrow.

  • Our achievements in Asia-Pacific

In 2022, our gross renewable capacities in Asia soared to 561 MW. With power demand increasing across Asia and the need for the region to navigate the energy transition, TotalEnergies ambition in renewables will succeed through a strong presence in Asia. Currently the Company’s possesses a strong footprint in the region, with projects spanning key countries such as:

    • In Australia, we've made significant strides in renewable project development, exemplified by the Kiamal Solar farm in Victoria, featuring a 256 MWp first phase and an anticipated 300 MWp second phase, currently in advanced development.
    • In the north-east of Cambodia, Battambang Solar Farm (74 MWac) generates 115 GWh per year, enough to supply 180,000 Cambodians with clean energy. It allows to save more than 50,000 tons of CO2 emissions. The PV farm is one of largest solar farm in operation in the country, and the largest in Battambang province.
    • Our presence in Japan extends to four solar farms with a combined operating capacity of 154 MW.
    • In the Philippines, Tarlac Solar Farm in the Philippines is in operation with a capacity of 60 MW and is expected to generate enough electricity to power over 50,000 households.
    • In South Korea, Parang is a 17 MW wind farm currently under construction and will be the first TotalEnergies onshore renewable project in the country. The wind turbines will provide 43 GWh per year, enough to supply electricity to about 35,000 people.
    • In Indonesia, Tanah Laut Wind Farm project, currently in late-stage development will have a capacity of 70 MW and 10 MWh Energy Storage System. Located in South Kalimantan, it will be the first hybrid wind farm in Indonesia.

As we drive the energy transition forward, Asia stands as an integral and thriving partner in our mission to shape a sustainable energy future for all.
